2024 in Review: Our First Year Building CraftDesk
Nine months ago, we launched CraftDesk with a simple bet: teams deserve better project management tools. Looking back at 2024, we're humbled by what we've built together—and grateful for the community that made it possible.
What We Shipped
April – Launch – We went live with core project and team management features. The response was immediate and overwhelming in the best way.
June – The API – Teams asked for programmatic access, so we built a comprehensive REST API. It's now powering integrations we never anticipated.
September – Custom Domains – Enterprise users needed branded portals, so we delivered the infrastructure to make it real. Let's Encrypt integration keeps everything secure automatically.
November – Advanced Analytics – We shipped real-time usage dashboards, velocity tracking, and team performance metrics. Professional and Business users now have complete visibility into how their teams work.
By The Numbers
- Teams across 4 continents – CraftDesk is now used by organizations in Europe, North America, Asia, and beyond.
- Support for 4 currencies – EUR, USD, GBP, CHF. We built multi-currency billing from day one, and it's seamless.
- 3,000+ daily active users – Growing steadily month over month, with retention rates that motivate us every single day.
- 2.5 million API calls monthly – Our API is being used for everything from Slack bots to custom dashboards to CI/CD automation.
- 98.9% uptime – We take reliability seriously. Our infrastructure runs on battle-tested cloud providers with redundancy across regions.
What We Learned
Speed matters more than perfection. We shipped features early and iterated based on real usage. The features you love weren't perfect on day one—you shaped them.
Communication is underrated. We started weekly updates to our community. Those conversations informed our roadmap more than any survey could.
Teams are global. We made localization a priority because your teams span continents. Supporting multiple currencies isn't a nice-to-have—it's table stakes.
API-first thinking pays off. Designing the API early meant we could iterate on the UI while maintaining backward compatibility. This approach will scale as we grow.
Community Highlights
You've built incredible things on top of CraftDesk. We've seen:
- A Slack workspace where every message creates a task automatically
- A CI/CD pipeline that updates project milestones on every deploy
- Custom analytics dashboards pulling data for VCs and stakeholders
- Time-tracking integrations that feed usage metrics back to CraftDesk
That creativity drives us forward.
Looking Ahead to 2025
We're already deep into the next chapter:
Mobile Apps – Native iOS and Android apps so you can manage projects anywhere.
Advanced Permissions – Custom roles and granular permission controls for large organizations.
Project Templates Marketplace – Pre-built templates for common workflows (Agile, Kanban, Client Services) that you can customize and share.
Enhanced API – GraphQL support alongside REST, webhooks for real-time events, and batch operations for efficiency.
Performance Upgrades – A global CDN edge network and optimized database queries to make CraftDesk even faster.
Our commitment remains unchanged: we're building this with you, not for you. Your feedback, your use cases, your constraints—they shape every line of code we write.
Thank you for an incredible 2024. We can't wait to build 2025 with you.
Onward.
